VISUAL RESEARCH
Prior to embarking on a new work of art, Krammes undertakes extensive visual research. He searches the internet, checks out stacks of art books from libraries and culls pages from a variety of magazines, looking for wide-ranging inspiration for his projects. He then puts these images into notebooks that are referenced throughout the creative process. For a recent exhibition, a former student arranged select visual research images into large atlases. These books became part of the show, allowing viewers to see a sampling of the references Krammes quotes in his pieces.
